Stream the new Flaming Lip’s album in its entirety…

embryonic

Okay if you haven’t been completely dominating Steven Colbert’s bandwidth for the last eight hours or so there is something wrong with you.  Why?  Because as many of you know the Flaming Lip’s new album Embryonic is streaming on ColbertNation.com in its entirety, and will be until Monday night. That means you should hurry and listen as many times as possible.

The Lip’s also performed a convincing version of “Convinced of the Hex” on Colbert last night. I hope they add quite a few of these new songs to their already stellar concert arsenal. If they do God help us all; our minds may be blown.

I’ve only made it through the album a couple of times but so far I’ve immensely enjoyed everything I’ve heard.  Early highlights include: “Aquarius Sabotage,” “Powerless” and “The Ego’s Last Stand.”  What are about yours?

You can pre-order a super special deluxe edition of the album here or grab the album in various other formats here.

Plans for New Years Eve?? Once again, THE FLAMING LIPS have confirmed that they will indeed play their hometown of Oklahoma City on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2009, at the Cox Center. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday September 19th. Ticket prices range from $10, $20, and $25 (plus venue/transaction fees). Special Guests will be Oklahoma brethren and label mates STARDEATH AND WHITE DWARFS. Check www.flaminglips.com and www.stardeathandwhitedwarfs.com for further details.

Also just completed and ready for viewing is a brand new video for the EMBRYONIC track, “I Can Be A Frog,” featuring backing animalistic sounds by Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeah’s fame, will debut online beginning, Sep 22, on Myspace.Com.

If all that weren’t enough, THE LIPS will once again host their annual “March of 1,000 Flaming Skeletons” Halloween Parade in Oklahoma City, now in its third year. This year’s festivities take place on October 24th in downtown Oklahoma City’s Bricktown district; just a stone’s throw away from FLAMING LIPS ALLEY.

Last year’s second annual Ghouls Gone Wild event was a huge success that drew LIPS fans from around the globe. Naturally, this year’s Supernatural procession will be even more incendiary as festive floats, (in)appropriately adorned cars, walking groups, and 1,000 strong undead snake through the streets of Oklahoma City.
