New Grizzly Bear – “Blackcurrant Jam”

grizzly.jpg

Head over to P4k and stream Grizzly Bear’s “Blackcurrant Jam” from Worried Noodles, a compilation based on the song lyrics by visual artist and writer, David Shrigley. It’s definitely a tasty little treat. I’ll let P4k explain the song…

The Brooklyn psych-folk four-piece’s arrangement branches out from creaking, thick-stringed acoustic strums to drizzling “Riders on the Storm” keyboards, splashy cymbals, and smoky guitar distortion befitting Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Their undulating harmonies are sweet as marmalade throughout. When the song veers off again, this time into a classically ornate piano-based coda, these vocals finally soar into a wordless falsetto. Almost the sound r&b’s The-Dream might make when he tastes a superlative jam. This one’s nice enough, too.

The compilaton also features music from the Liars and Tussle.  Look for Worried Noodles in stores October 23rd.
