New Release We Missed: Burial – Untrue
Admittedly, we occasionally miss an album on the weekly “New Release Post” but they usually aren’t albums of epic proportions. As a norm we usually go back to the post and slip the album we missed in like nothing ever happened. Very rarely do we point out our mistakes by giving an album its own post, but we felt we almost had to with British Dubstepper Burial’s Untrue.
More info and mp3 after the jump…
Untrue is filled with sparse rhythms and an extremely heavy reliance on bass. The album’s dark mood is held consistent throughout by blurred, smeared, and bent voices that as an end result sound like surreal and haunting secrets.
Not being very familiar with the Dubstep genre myself, I kind of put the album into perspective by thinking that this might be what Massive Attack would sound like if their pets had just died and they decided to get completely tanked on acid.
Untrue came out November 6th on Kode 9’s Hyperdub imprint, and is worth picking up.

Jay says,
iTunes lists this album only as the ‘clean’ version. Does anyone know if it’s rated clean in lieu of lyrics, or is iTunes actually selling an edited version??

@ Jay 4:43: I’m not sure about the answer to your question. I tried to look into the matter last night but couldn’t find any answers. I bought my copy off e-music and it doesn’t seem to be edited at all. Sorry we couldn’t be more help.
